Vladimir Velminski, born in 1976 in Dushanbe (USSR), studied mathematics, physics, Slavic studies, and cultural studies in Berlin and Moscow. In 2008, he earned his Ph.D. in art history from Humboldt University in Berlin. In addition to his role as head of the department “History and Theory of Media Regimes in Eastern Europe” at the Bauhaus University Weimar, he has authored numerous publications on the cultural history of Eastern Europe.
