Ulrike Almut Sandig lives in Berlin as a writer and performer. Since 2005, she has published numerous volumes of poetry, prose, translations from Ukrainian and English, music albums, radio plays, and audiobooks. Her German vocal rendition of the Ukrainian national anthem premiered in Bonn in 2022. In 2026, her novel Im Orkan was published as a book and audiobook, narrated by the author.

For her performances, Sandig works closely with musicians from around the world. As the frontwoman of the German-Ukrainian poetry collective Landschaft, she brings poems to life in an exhilarating fusion of loop-based electronics, verse, and visuals. Her new album Holos is set to be released in the fall of 2026.

Ulrike Almut Sandig has received numerous awards, including the 2021 Erich Loest Prize and the 2023 Robert Gernhardt Prize. She is a founding member of P.E.N. Berlin and sings in the queer classical chamber choir Amaryllis.
