Ilinca Florian

Ilinca Florian was born in 1983 in Bucharest, Romania, and grew up in Austria. She studied acting before moving to Berlin in 2007. There, she performed at the GRIPS Theater and began her second degree at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb), graduating with a diploma in screenwriting.

In 2011, she won the Best Screenplay award at the international student film festival sehsüchte for “Wolken Wollen.” The tragicomedy “Blind & Ugly” (Blind und Hässlich), which she developed with director Tom Lass, premiered at the Munich Film Festival in 2017 and received numerous awards. In February 2018, Ilinca Florian’s literary debut, the novel Als wir das Lügen lernten (When We Learned to Lie), was published by Karl Rauch. This was followed by the novels Das zarte Bellen langer Nächte (The Soft Barking of Long Nights, 2020) and Bleib, solang du willst (Stay as Long as You Like, 2022).
