Swinging the East – OSTPOL BERLIN Festival Closing
8 days, 20 events featuring 54 guest artists—the OSTPOL BERLIN Festival showcased the voices, texts, songs, and performances of Berlin’s Central and Eastern European artists—all of this is Berlin, and all of this proves just how much Berlin is the cultural OSTPOL at the heart of Europe, where cultures and languages converge: Berlin in Belarusian, Georgian, Yiddish, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Ukrainian, Hungarian, Slovak, Tatar, Czech, Chechen… + English & German!
OSTPOL BERLIN Festival – a multilingual literature festival featuring central and eastern European artists based in Berlin,
5–12 July 2026.
All events are open to the public and held primarily in German with multilingual segments and translations (please check the notes for individual programme items).
Tickets cost €5,- / concessions €3,- per event, available on the door at the daily and evening box office. A Festival Pass (unlimited access to all events) can be pre-ordered for €60,- by emailing info@stadtsprachen.de and collected at the entrance at any time.

OSTPOL BERLIN Festival of Central and Eastern European Artists in Berlin
Berlin is in the East: Important figures and key players from Central and Eastern Europe continue to shape Berlin’s cultural life to this day. Our OSTPOL BERLIN Festival aims to highlight their influence, give voice to their current perspectives and themes, and redraw the lines connecting the past and the present, East and West. Through bilingual events and German translations, as well as readings, concerts, lectures, performances, and discussions, we bring the current aspects of our present to life in the vibrant colors of the arts. We reach out to a broad, multilingual audience (not only) in Berlin and warmly invite everyone: There is much that is remarkable and astonishing to discover here! And from here, new impulses for cultural cooperation radiate out into the international cultural scene: Berlin as a real, living spiritual home that fosters a vibrant, innovative, shared culture—OSTPOL BERLIN.
